Hello,
Thank you for subscribing to the Parent’s Guide to Teaching Early Skills. This curriculum is created specifically for parents, while under the supervision of a BCBA or ABA therapy centre. It is written in very simple language for every parent to be able to understand.
In this curriculum, you will find sections on responding to others, learning to read and write, mathematics skills, and many others. It is created for early learners (0-6 years), with or without disabilities. This curriculum is designed to be inclusive of all children with varying abilities. It will also enhance the generalizability of skills across environments.
I advise you to follow this plan, with your professional discretion. Each family’s needs are different and need to be considered prior to assigning programs.
To begin, ensure that parents have an opportunity to view Basic Training Videos for an overview on techniques used in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and general teaching. You can make these videos available to them at all times, to give them a chance to view them at any time throughout their journey with you.
After the videos, you can choose what programs are necessary for the parents. When assigning the programs, use the categories to decide what will benefit the child the most and can be easily taught by the parents. For some programs, there are pre-requisite skills that the child will need. Keep that in mind when assigning programs.
I hope your centre and the families that you serve will benefit greatly from this curriculum.
Warmly,
Ushmeet Deol
